Design of Logistics and Service Complex for KIA Motors Ltd

Ascendia’s strategic partner Mendis Cobain Consultants (MCC) was appointed by KIA Motors Lanka Ltd, a leading global automobile company, to provide design services for its new Logistics and Service Complex at Malabe, a suburb of Colombo. The complex is a state-of-the-art facility that offers a one-stop solution for all the vehicle-related needs of KIA customers, including sales, service, spare parts, and technical training. The complex is also KIA’s largest facility in Sri Lanka, with a total floor area of 70,000 square feet on 3.4 acres of land.

Architectural design: MCC designed the complex with a modern and elegant style, reflecting the brand identity and vision of KIA. We ensured that the complex met the highest standards of quality, functionality, and aesthetics, while also complying with the local regulations and requirements. MCC also incorporated sustainable design features, such as natural ventilation, daylighting, rainwater harvesting, and solar power, to reduce the environmental impact and operational costs of the complex.
Structural engineering: We provided structural engineering services for the complex, including the design, analysis, and optimization of the structural elements, such as the foundation, the columns, the beams, the slabs, the walls, and the roof. MCC used advanced software and techniques to ensure the structural performance and stability of the complex, taking into account the seismic, wind, and soil conditions of the site. Our teams also coordinated with the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) engineers to integrate the structural and MEP systems in an efficient and effective manner.
Interior design: We provided interior design services for the complex, including the design, selection, and installation of the interior finishes, fixtures, and furniture. MCC created a comfortable and luxurious atmosphere for the customers and staff, with a variety of amenities and facilities, such as a spacious showroom, a central warehouse, a cutting-edge mechanical repair centre, a collision repair centre, and a technical training centre. We also used the KIA corporate colours and logos to enhance the brand recognition and loyalty of the complex.

The project was completed with a total cost of LKR 400 million. The project was delivered on time and within budget, with a high level of customer satisfaction and positive feedback.
