Renovation and Repairs to Building of Sri Lanka Press Institute, Colombo
Mendis Cobain Consultants (MCC), Ascendia's strategic partner, provided building design, structural, and architectural services for the Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI), a leading media development institute in Sri Lanka.
The project involved the renovation and repairs of the existing building of the SLPI, which is located at 96, Kirula Road, Colombo 051. The project aimed to improve the functionality, aesthetics, and safety of the building, as well as to enhance the learning and working environment for the SLPI staff and students.
Building design: MCC designed the renovation and repairs of the building, with a contemporary and professional style, reflecting the vision and mission of the SLPI. MCC ensured that the building design met the highest standards of quality, functionality, and aesthetics, while also complying with the local regulations and requirements.
Structural engineering: MCC provided structural engineering services for the renovation and repairs of the building, including the strengthening, retrofitting, and rehabilitation of the existing structure, as well as the addition of new elements, such as a lift, a staircase, and a canopy. MCC used advanced software and techniques to analyze and optimize the structural performance and stability of the building, taking into account the seismic, wind, and soil conditions of the site.
Architectural services: MCC provided architectural services for the renovation and repairs of the building, including the interior and exterior design, the lighting, the ventilation, the landscaping, and the furnishing. MCC created a comfortable and conducive atmosphere for the SLPI staff and students, with a variety of amenities and facilities, such as a library, a computer lab, a conference hall, a cafeteria, and a lounge.
The project was completed in 2022, with a total floor area of 2,000 square meters. The project was delivered on time and within budget, with a high level of customer satisfaction and positive feedback.
